Recent projects

SGL Power acted as Owner's Engineer developing a new power generation solution for Syama Glod Mine in Mali.  We provided technical and commercial advisory services regarding generation technology, explored alternative fuels and renewable energy, developed feasibility studies, led engagement of the market, bid evaluation.  SGL Power also supported the development of a PPA and supporting agreements with Aggreko and Wartsila.

The final solution utilises a novel modular block system with the engine auxiliaries installed in ISO containers, and the ISO containers stacked to form the engine hall and capped with a roof.  This minimises site works and logistics costs.  3x Wartsila 32 engines are supported by an Aggreko BESS were installed as Phase 1, with an additional engine to follow.  The system was designed for future integration of a solar PV solution on a capped tailings dam in close proximity.

 

Industrial power

The project is a Brownfields  Plant for a steel producer.  The project entails converting flared furnace off gasses, excess gasses not consumed by plant processes into electrical energy and process steam.
Three streams of off gasses are considered namely Blast Furnace Gas, Coke Oven Gas and Basic Oxygen Furnace Gas.
This detailed feasibility study phase of the project considered the most viable options for the recovery of these gasses and the conversion of the excess gas into electrical energy. 
The plant has a generation capacity of 130MW of electrical power based on the gas streams available and technology to be used.
